Normal Isn't So Good
In class at the beginning of the semester we discussed a lot about how the internet is changing everyone's lives. In my opinion the internet is completely changing everyone's lives. There are very few people that are still in touch with reality these days. Not only internet but also the media and television is what makes us lose touch with things like nature, family, and friends.
These last few months I've realized that i've lost touch with reality and have been trying to do things to change it. I realized after graduating highschool that highschool makes you want to conform into the normal teenager that parties, goes to class, and sleeps a lot. Lately I have been trying to break that habit and be unique and do fun things that most teenagers don't do. For example, my neighbors own a boat and almost everyday now we go out to the lake and wakeboard and have fun. I leave my phone at home and just enjoy the company of others around me. I've also been trying to enjoy the time that I have with friends and family because you never know when your life could be over.
After doing activities that are outside where you can experience nature it opens my eyes to what is really fun. Many people come home from school or work and sit on the couch and watch TV, but that's just not me anymore. I want to do things and not be "normal." Go have fun exciting experiences in the outdoors that you can tell stories about. In my eyes normal isn't a good thing!

WOW WOW WOW THis is excellent. I am just moved by how perceptive you are in this post, honest and real. You are putting together all of the pieces of what we've talked about in your own voice.
ReplyDeleteYet, I can totally see a connection here to many of the pieces we read this semester, but one that is jumping out at me is the poem by Robert Frost. To me, it seems like you're saying (among other things) go for the road not taken. Live your own life. Be you.
