Becoming of Age

In Chapter 7 in the novel The Giver Jonas is wondering what has happenened as he sits listening to the ceremony of twelves as his name has been skipped. He has no idea as to what drastic change is around the corner for him. This middle part of the book was the most interesting to me because this where Jonas finds out the flaws in his community that nobody else realize. Jonas, even though really young, with memories has a huge advantage over everyone in his community.

Positive Living

In my ideal community it would be on the big island of Hawaii and when you first join you would be accommodated with a job and a house. Education and health care are free and there are no taxes.  Every job gets paid nearly the same amount so that there aren’t rich and there aren’t poor. Equality but not sameness like in The Giver. The community also has all the regular commodities that a normal society has for you like grocery stores, banks, shopping malls, etc. There is just one rule: take the prescription we give you everyday. The prescription allows for you to be very optimistic about life. You will have minimal  worries, no anger, no fighting with one another, just a life of pure happiness. The objective of the pill is so that it will prevent people from having hatred for one another and so that the community will benefit from everyone getting along being able to work together to create a solid/successful community.

Kenneth Cole Fragrance Ad

In the Kenneth Cole fragrance ad it provides the illusion that if you wear the fragrance that you will attract the opposite sex. Making you immediately sexy and have the opposite sex lusting over you. And like in most ads it portrays sex with the slogan "wear me out"as the title of the fragrance.

Tattoo Me Again and Again by Stephanie Dolgoff

Many people have tattoos all over their body some look good, others look like they are trying to gain attention. I believe that Stephanie Dolgoff is right and that if you get a tattoo that has meaning behind it you will never regret it. I have yet to get a tattoo but I do have some ideas that I know I would never regret. I never judge people that have tattoos because I never know what each one means to that person. But when I see ones like the state of California or other vague images that apply to others I start to question if they were really thought out or not. One day I’m going to get a tattoo but I know if I do I’ m going to have a specific memory or meaning behind it.

My Sentence
